Once the rain stops, I'll begin moving things back into MS (pronounced Mis) that were in the old trailer. My plan is to be very selective about what goes back--there were so many things we just didn't use. I really thought I would make smoothies on camping trips...uh, no.
We're definitely going to have to cover the sofa with something. We opened the door, Ari ran in & promptly claimed the sofa as her domain! She's becoming quite the Chair Dog as she gets older.
We also have the myriad questions about mods & miscellaneous 'stuff' (to cover or not, solar or gen, Calgon/Dawn or Happy Camper, which RV insurance company, remove decals from windows). What are your top 5 recommendations for those of us with a new RV--beyond 'enjoy the heck out of it'?
Happy trails and thank you for visiting!
My number one suggestion would be to purchase a surge protector if you don't already have one. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty. Will you be showing pictures of the inside?
hi Judi! We've talked about that--do you have a specific recomendation?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if you have first-hand experience. Inside photos to follow once the rain stops!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a surge protector. We have a Progressive Industries one. I went out to a website and looked at a bunch of pictures of your rig. I think I'd want to remove those decals from the windows. Not sure why they did that but I would find it frustrating to have to look around them at wildlife or people. Maybe not so much on the door but at the dinette. We use Calgon and Rid-X. We have Blue Sky insurance and are happy with them so far but haven't had a claim.
ReplyDeleteI'll look on Amazon for a Progressive Industries surge protector--thank you for the recommendation. Barbara mentioned taking the decals off & Jim likes the idea too. I think that will be on our to-do-list. They really do obstruct the view out the windows. I'll check out Blue Sky insurance (love the name). Seems a lot of people use Calgon & something. Thank you, Sandie!
DeleteHave you considered getting rid of word verification on your blog? A lot of folks won't comment if they have to do that extra step.
ReplyDeleteGot rid of word verification--it was easy to do. I'll check out Blue Sky insurance--thank you.
ReplyDeleteDepending on how you are going to camp, my first thing was solar panels and second - a Wave 3 propane heater. I also have a Progressive Industries surge protector. Oxygenics Showerhead for sure to save water. And for number five - I think maybe a Pro-Fill system to add water to your batteries OR a nice camera if you don't already have one. Those have been my best things on the road. :)
ReplyDeleteYou new RV is beautiful - I'm looking forward to interior shots, too!
Thank you, Barbara. We're definitely considering solar panels & the other items on your list....all things on your blog! Will order from your blog. I think a nice camera would be great--I'm very envious of rRick's Canon G15. And yes, the decals would block our view of the landscape, birds, and all great things so I think we'll be taking them off!
DeleteOh - I forgot about the decals on the windows question. They look great from the outside. I'm assuming you can easily see through them from the inside? If not, definitely remove them. You KNOW they will always be in the way of that great bird shot that you'll never get again!
ReplyDeleteAgree with the others about the surge protector. Both solar and a generator, especially if you are going to be in the Pacific NW a lot - we don't always have sunshine, do we haha!! We have Coach Net for emergency roadside assistance and found them very helpful and responsive. Since we are not full-timers, we don't insure our MH as a "home" and insured it through our regular carrier. We also have AAA Plus which is probably overkill since we have Coach-net, but in an emergency, I figure if one doesn't work the other will!!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right about that, Donna, especially lately! I've heard a lot of good things about Coach Net & we also have AA+--I like your plan! Good to know you carry your MH through your regular carrier. Thank you, Donna! Have a good day!
DeleteI'm a believer in some type of tire monitor. We have Pressure Pro, and it saved a tire near Portland Oregon last fall. I understand there are lots of other brands.
ReplyDeleteFor sure a surge protector. Joe and I only have a generator....no solar. We haven't done any boondocking yet.
ReplyDeleteWe are always changing things around, getting rid of things we haven't used and doing little remods! We love it!
Love your new Nash....I know you are so excited!
I meant to add also....take your time on remods...live in it awhile...
DeleteCongrats on your new Trailer. As others have said, yes, get a surge protector, also suggest a Brass Water Pressure Regulator so you don't get hooked up to a place with real high water pressure which blows your lines out. It is good you took off the word verification, as you saw on our site I monitor all postings because you will get spam. If they leave a link that has nothing to do with RVing, than assume it is spam, and DON'T click on the link...just mark them as spam. Good luck, was glad to add another RVing with Dogs Blog to our blog list. --Dave (GoingRvWay.com)
ReplyDeleteHappy Camper is a great product. Easy to use and effective. Just put some down the sinks and toilet after dumping. It works well as a toilet cleaner too. You can purchase on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteAnd a water filter (if you don't already have one).
One last thing: I really like the water filler I just got. It makes filling the water tank(s) really easy. I blogged about it here: http://kimbopolo.blogspot.com/2014/02/a-day-at-beaches.html
Got mine at Camping World but amazon has them as well.
I still don't know as much about RV's as I would like to but MS looks pretty good to me. Can't wait to hear about your adventures. I'll be the jealous one sitting at home! And, you're right about the packing. Some of us just tend to take more than we really need.
